Tiddlywinks nursery is a privately owned full day care setting that caters for children between the ages of 0-5 years. We open for 51 weeks of the year, closing only at Christmas.
The nursery is a purpose-built building offering lots of space with everything designed with children in mind.
There is a room for each of the different age groups which enables us to cater for their different needs.
We have a large outdoor space and believe it’s important to provide opportunities for outdoor play on a
daily basis. The outside space contains a wildlife garden where we have a slide, mud kitchen and grow
vegetables as well as a paved area at the back of the rooms. We strive to provide the best possible childcare and education for the children in our care and pride
ourselves on providing flexible, affordable childcare that meets the needs of the community we serve.
We have a highly qualified and skilled team of
practitioners with a low turnover of staff which enables us to provide consistent and effective relationships with our children and parents.
We have achieved an Outstanding rating from Ofsted for our last two inspections and continually strive to
offer the very best childcare.
We value our partnerships with parents and carers and aim to work together to ensure we develop happy
and confident learners.
We are committed to giving every child the opportunity to achieve the highest of standards within their learning and development. We do this by taking account of children’s varied life experiences and individual needs. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum and have high expectations for all children.

All staff working with the children have a paediatric first aid certificate as well a wealth of other
qualifications and training.
Our nursery rooms
Bears (from birth)
This room is for our youngest children. We offer a stimulating, nurturing and home from home environment for 6 babies. The room has an all-weather outside area attached to their room which includes a mud kitchen and sand pit. The babies are able to watch and interact with the toddlers which are in an adjoining room. Practitioners focus on The Prime areas of development through interests and next steps.
Tigers (from 18 months)
Our toddler room offers a variety of child led activities covering all areas of development. They have free-flow access to an outside area which offers stimulating activities such as a mud kitchen and water play. Children are encouraged to gain a range of self-help skills such as putting on their own shoes and coat. The room has its own toilet and nappy changing area to support children who are potty training.
Monkeys (from 2.5 years)
This is a large spacious room with a free-flow access to a covered, outside area. Children are encouraged to learn through play as well as developing their independence and skills needed for school. Practitioners plan stimulating activities and opportunities to ‘learn in the moment’ They have a fantastic range of resources and toys that suit both toddlers and preschool age children.
Lions (from 3 years)
This is our largest and busiest room with lots of space for a variety of adult-led and child-led activities. As in Monkeys, practitioners plan stimulating activities that meet children’s interests and next steps as well as providing opportunities to ‘learn in the moment’ The room provides free-flow play to our large outdoor garden, including a construction and digging area.
